- Outsource your job to get a new one! This is the new mantra doing the rounds in the US IT sector.
Programmers are outsourcing their software modules to cheap and efficient labour in India. This way they get the best of both worlds- more money and more time. They earn doubly - one from the outsourced job, other from the new job they undertake.

As a software developer, I don't like the sound of that. It just gives more inertia to already troublesome issue of jobs moving off shore.
There is a threshold that a project needs to reach to be marketable to an offshore developer, but the concept of "mom and pop" offshoring sends a shiver down my spine.
I suppose that as an programmer doing this you would be spending your time gathering and validating requirements and managing assets with an aweful time differential instead of programming. Thus turning you into a project manager and business analyst that works most of their time at 3AM.

That assumes that you actually get more work done and that your employer is smart enough to reward you for the extra work. It seems that too many employers want to take all the credit hiring good people.
