I got to eat fries from one of those a few years ago, and they tasted pretty good.

I guess the nature of the machine would discourage tipping it for 'free fries' as well.
 

These machines (not this particular brand- but similar) have been around a while. Back in 1999 I worked at an internet startup company that had one of these installed. I think they did it as more of a novelty and to appear "cutting edge" and hip then anything else. Nobody really used it on a regular basis because it was too expensive. The fries it made weren't bad though. It's only a matter of time before we have the fully-automated fast-food joint. Manna is right around the corner. :)
