If you are building a computer...

... then this is a really interesting article:

A 4.1 GHz Dual Core at $130 - Can it be True?

According to the article, it is true. Which means you can get screaming performance really cheap.

The article also offers a great intro to many of the details of overclocking if you have never tried it before.

I can believe it. I wouldn't take it that high for the life of the machine. The speed rating is the speed that can be held for seven years of use. So the numbers are actually conservative.

I would rather own the sweet spot price procesor and add RAM and stripe the hard drive with a second drive.

A computer system is a SYSTEM. There are more places to improve performance than CPU's and graphics cards.
