This is true in exactly the same sense as "clothes are addictive". Try substituting "clothes" for "cell phones" into the above discussion. Given that in temperate climates the best reason to wear clothes is to give you a place to put your cell phone, this makes sense.
 

So how long will it be until we have communications devices embedded directly in our brains, so we will be constantly in touch, evolving into cells in a global nervous system and part of an immense living being?
